1. Acceptance of these terms
This website, ltblandlordparalegal.ca, is operated by Shemesh Paralegal, operating as LTB Landlord Paralegals ("we", "us" or "our"). By using this website you agree to these terms of use. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
2. Who we are
Shemesh Paralegal, operating as LTB Landlord Paralegals, is the paralegal practice of Ian M. Shemesh, a paralegal licensed by the Law Society of Ontario (licence P08725, Paralegal P1).
LTB Landlord Paralegals is an independent paralegal practice. It is not part of, and is not endorsed by, the Landlord and Tenant Board or Tribunals Ontario.

3. Scope of paralegal services
Licensed paralegals in Ontario may provide legal services only within the scope of practice permitted by the Law Society of Ontario. That scope includes proceedings before tribunals such as the Landlord and Tenant Board, and certain matters in the Small Claims Court and under the Provincial Offences Act. If any part of your matter falls outside that scope, we will tell you and recommend that you consult a lawyer.
Any reference on this website to a team member's earlier work, education or experience in other areas of law (for example personal injury) describes their background. It is not an offer of legal services outside the paralegal scope of practice.
4. We act for landlords
Our practice represents landlords, property managers and housing providers. We do not act for tenants. Pages about tenant applications (such as T1 to T7) explain how we help landlords respond to them. If you are a tenant, please get advice from a lawyer, a paralegal who acts for tenants, or a community legal clinic.
5. No paralegal-client relationship
Using this website, booking a consultation online, emailing or calling us does not by itself make you our client. We become your representative only after we have checked for conflicts of interest and confirmed in writing, usually by a signed retainer agreement, that we have been retained.
6. Booking a consultation online
Our "Book online" buttons open a scheduling page provided by DocketPro, a third-party service. Information you enter there is collected for us so we can arrange your consultation and is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. DocketPro's own terms may also apply to your use of its page. Your first consultation is free of charge. A fee may apply to any later consultation, and we will tell you before it is booked.
7. Confidential information and information from other parties
Please do not send confidential or sensitive details through email or the booking page until we have confirmed that we are retained. A short summary of your situation and your contact details are enough to start. Email and web forms are not guaranteed to be secure.
Information we receive before we are retained, including from a tenant or any other party to a dispute, may not be treated as confidential or privileged, and receiving it does not prevent us from acting for a landlord in the same matter.
8. General information only, not legal advice
Everything on this website, including service pages, blog articles, the Resources section, filing-fee and form guides, and the LTB hearing-room directory, is general information about Ontario landlord and tenant law and procedure. It is not legal advice and is not a substitute for advice about your own situation. Do not act, or decide not to act, based on anything you read here without first getting advice from a licensed legal professional.
9. No guarantee of results
Every case turns on its own facts and on the decision of the Board. Descriptions of past matters, experience or client comments on this website do not mean that a similar result will be achieved in your matter.
10. Fees
Any fee, price or estimate mentioned on this website is general information only and may change. The fees for your matter are those set out in your written retainer agreement, together with any Board filing fees, disbursements and applicable taxes. N4 notice and L1 application work is offered at a flat fee; the amount, what it covers and whether Board filing fees, disbursements and HST are extra are set out in your retainer agreement before you commit.
11. Accuracy and availability
Ontario landlord and tenant law, Board rules, forms and fees change often. While we try to keep this website current, we make no representation or warranty that anything on it is accurate, complete or up to date, including forms, filing fees, timelines, hearing-room numbers, meeting IDs and links. Always confirm hearing details against your Notice of Hearing and with the Landlord and Tenant Board or Tribunals Ontario. The website is provided "as is" and "as available", and pages may be changed, suspended or removed at any time without notice.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LTB Landlord Paralegals and Ian M. Shemesh are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or other loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website or its content, or from your inability to use it. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the laws of Ontario, or any duty we owe to a client under a retainer.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LTB Landlord Paralegals and Ian M. Shemesh from any claim, loss or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of this website.
14. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the content of this website, including text, graphics, photographs, video and logos, is owned by or licensed to LTB Landlord Paralegals and is protected by Canadian copyright and trademark law. You may view, download and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, modify or distribute any content for any other purpose without our written permission. 15. Acceptable use
You agree not to use this website for any unlawful purpose; to submit false, misleading, abusive or defamatory information; to attempt to gain unauthorized access to the website, its servers or any non-public area; to introduce viruses or other harmful code; or to scrape, harvest or collect content or data from the website by automated means.
16. Links to other websites
This website links to other websites and services for convenience, including Tribunals Ontario and the Landlord and Tenant Board, the Government of Ontario, DocketPro, Zoom hearing rooms (through bit.ly short links), Google and LinkedIn. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement.
17. Privacy and cookies
How we collect and use personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy. The cookies and analytics tools this website uses, and how to turn analytics off, are explained in our Cookie and Tracking Policy.
18. Complaints
If you have a concern about our services, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. Paralegals in Ontario are regulated by the Law Society of Ontario, which also accepts complaints about its licensees.
19. Accessibility
If you have difficulty using any part of this website, or need information from it in another format, please call or email us and we will work with you to provide it. Accessibility feedback goes to Ian M. Shemesh, who will respond and arrange an accessible format or other support.
20. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario. You agree that any dispute about these terms or this website will be heard in the courts of Ontario.
21. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page with a new "last updated" date. The version posted when you use the website applies to that use.
22. General
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce any part of these terms is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Cookie and Tracking Policy, are the entire agreement between you and LTB Landlord Paralegals about your use of this website. They do not replace a signed retainer agreement, which governs any legal services we provide.
